When Discipline Turns to Fear: Rethinking Bullying in Schools

For many students, school is meant to be a place of growth, friendship, and discovery. But for others, it becomes a space of constant anxiety, fear, and humiliation—not because of poor grades or strict teachers, but because of bullying. Whether it’s verbal insults, physical aggression, exclusion, or online harassment, bullying leaves deep emotional scars that can undermine a child’s confidence, mental health, and academic performance.

What makes it worse is that in some schools, bullying is minimized, ignored, or even mistaken for “toughening up” or “just kids being kids.” Some parents only find out when it’s already too late—after the damage has been done. Others feel helpless when schools fail to take meaningful action.

So we need to ask: How serious is the bullying problem in our schools? Are we doing enough to protect our children, and what should schools, teachers, and parents be doing differently? Have you or your child experienced bullying, and how was it handled? :speech_balloon::point_down:
